Holy Week Services

Published on Monday 6 April 2020

I hope this email finds you and your household well and enjoying the spring sunshine. It is lovely seeing the leaves breaking out on the trees again; a reminder that Easter is very close.

Holy Week Services

We will be live streaming compline at 8pm on Monday (today), Tuesday and Wednesday. On Thursday there will be a service at 8pm too, a contemplation of some of the themes of the last supper. On Good Friday we will be uploading a video to be available from 2pm with a dramatised reading of St Matthews passion at the heart of this. We hope that this will be available on Youtube and St Mary's website as well as facebook.

Details of the services on Easter Day will follow later in the week. We haven't finalised this as we are still working out how to use the tech.

If like me you are struggling to get to grips with new technology you might enjoy this picture of what the Last Supper would have looked like on Zoom:

Staff Furlough

As I am sure you can imagine the loss of income from services, tennis parking and from hall hire this year is going to hit St Mary's hard. As we do not need a verger at the moment, and much of the work of the Youth and Families Worker has had to stop; Oonagh and Catherine are being furloughed until Sunday Worship and other group activities can start up again. Thank you to both of them for agreeing to step back for the time being. This will take a little pressure off our finances.

Many people are facing financial difficulties at the moment we know, but if you are in the fortunate position of still receiving a regular income and you don't currently give by Standing Order can we ask you to consider doing so. You can find out how to do it by clicking on this link.
