Meditation on a Bible passage

Published on Saturday 28 March 2020

How are you keeping?

As Christians, we have heard so many times that God is with us but hearing all the terrible news in the media, it is quite hard to believe it sometimes, isn't it? In such times like this I often find it hard to pray, but as some prayer books suggest, when I am finding it particularly difficult, I read a Bible passage and try to slowly reflect on it. Below is a passage I've been reflecting on today. (To personalise it you may say your own name at the (*) mark.)

Here is a passage from the Gospel of John chapter 14;

Jesus says that;
'I am the way, and the truth, and the life.
No one comes to the Father except through me.
If you know me, (*) you will know my Father also.
From now on you do know him and have seen him.' (vv. 6-7)
And I will ask the Father,
and he will give you another Advocate,
to be with you for ever.
This is the Spirit of truth,
the world cannot receive,
because it neither sees him nor knows him.
You know him, (*)
because he abides with you, and he will be in you. (vv. 16-17)
The Advocate, the Holy Spirit,
whom the Father will send in my name,
will teach you everything, (*)
and remind you of all that I have said to you. (v. 26)

I hope this gives you as much comfort as it has given me in this uncertain and rather strange time and help you to build a deep relationship with God.

Many blessings,

Yunghee and the Ministry Team
