Planning your event

Our halls are suitable for children's parties, family celebrations, local residents and meetings. Funeral wakes and wedding receptions are welcome if following a service at St Mary's.


Unfortunately we cannot guarantee to provide car parking. Hirers can park close to the halls for unloading, but we do not permit guests to park in the churchyard due to limited space.

Pay and display bays in nearby streets mostly operate until 6:30pm Monday to Saturday but in Arthur Road restrictions currently only apply 11am - 3pm, Monday to Friday. However we strongly advise you to check the signs.

The field adjoining the churchyard may be hired for £110 subject to availability and weather conditions on the day.

Bouncy Castles

If hiring the Garden Hall, you may put a bouncy castle on the grass outside, but not inside. Please obtain prior permission from the Parish Office and there will be an additional £10 charge. The equipment must be delivered and removed from the site during the period of hall rental, and your castle provider must have comprehensive insurance.

Outdoor Spaces

We have a grassed area between the halls which may be used by hirers of the Garden Hall only except in poor weather conditions or when the grass has been treated or reseeded. It cannot be used for marquees, ball games or outdoor cooking and we ask you to exercise sensitivity to church users and to our neighbours. The children's play area on the side of Fellowship House furthest from the Garden Hall is the property of the Day Nursery and may not be used.


Small tea candles on the tables are permitted, but please remove any resulting wax to avoid a cleaning charge.


You are welcome to hold a disco, but you'll need to provide your own equipment. Out of consideration for our neighbours, we have to have a noise meter which cuts out the electrical power if the maximum volume level for residential areas is exceeded. In line with our hiring policy, teenage discos are not permitted.


No decorations are permitted to be stuck to any of the surfaces in the halls (including windows). Balloons are only permitted on weights and must be removed after the hire period.


Although we won't recommend any particular caterers, we can provide the names of those which are used regularly by hirers. Any subsequent agreement to hire a caterer is solely between the hall hirer and the caterer, and the onus is on the hirer to see that any caterer employed by them complies with our conditions of hire.


Hirers are responsible for leaving the hall in a clean, tidy condition including the floor, taking all rubbish home immediately after the event has ended as there are no bin facilities on site. Leaving rubbish behind will surrender your full deposit. Please bring your own tea towels, cleaning materials and bin bags. The hall has a broom, mop and bucket, dustpan & brush available for use.

Returning Keys and Deposit Return

When you are given the key you will be shown where to return it. Please do so as soon as your hire period ends. Please email your bank details for the return of your deposit as soon as possible after your hire to .
